First horse inspection at the Land Rover Blair Castle Horse Trials

A record number of eventers will contest the Land Rover Blair Castle International Horse Trials, which got underway today with the first horse inspection for the three long-format international eventing classes.

Land Rover Blair Castle hosts five international eventing classes, ranging from the feature CCI4*-L section to the new foundation-level CCI1*, which takes place at Scotland’s premier horse trials for the first time. Alongside these runs the highly popular Scottish Grassroots Eventing Festival, with national championship classes at BE100 and BE90 level.

Only one horse failed the first horse inspection – Kate Walls’ Cooley Lands, who was entered in the CC3*-L.

James Rushbrooke and Laura Landale won the Best Dressed prizes at the first horse inspection, sponsored by jewellery company HiHo Silver. They both take away vouchers worth £150 to spend at HiHo Silver.

Dressage for the international classes starts tomorrow (26 August) at 8.30am, while action in the showing rings starts at 8am.

Tickets are still available to purchase for Land Rover Blair Castle Horse Trials, including for Saturday’s bumper day of cross-country action.
