This year there are specific travel directions for cars and horseboxes. Please follow the event signage from the A9 and the directions of the stewards as you approach the event.
Blair Castle is just off the main A9 road at Blair Atholl in Highland Perthshire between Perth and Inverness. It is some 35 miles (56km) north of Perth.
Some of our visitors have experienced problems with satellite navigation in the immediate vicinity of Blair Castle. Our advice is to type in the castle postcode “PH18 5TL” but to ignore all sat nav instructions once you reach the outskirts of the village of Blair Atholl and follow event signage.
Take the A9 all the way south to Blair Atholl. Display any vehicle passes in your windscreen and follow the event signage or stewards directions.
Take the A/M80 north to Stirling, remembering to bypass the city and follow the signs for Perth then Inverness which will take you on to the A9 north. Display any vehicle passes in your windscreen and follow the event signage or stewards directions.
Take the M90 to Perth outskirts where you will follow the signs for and join the A9 north to Inverness. Display any vehicle passes in your windscreen and follow the event signage or stewards directions.
The more scenic route is the A93 road via Ballater, Braemar and Glenshee to the A924 turn-off at Bridge of Cally, for Kirkmichael then head west to Pitlochry. Look out at Pitlochry for the signs for the A9 north to Blair Atholl (7 miles) The quickest route from Aberdeen is to come south on the A90 via Forfar, then Coupar Angus and Dunkeld.
Take the A90 to the outskirts of Perth then proceed as for Edinburgh above.
Disembark at Blair Atholl Station. Turn right on the road which runs through the village and the castle gates will soon be seen on the other side. Follow the main drive to the castle up the lime avenue, just over half a mile (1km) from the station.
