SHOPS
GALORE!
Even
if you are not remotely interested in equestrian or country pursuits,
it is well worth a trip to Blair Atholl from Thursday, August 21st
to Sunday 24th for a bit of retail therapy.
This is when the Bowmore Blair Castle International Horse Trials and
Country Fair takes place with the world’s top riders competing
for around £15000 prize money.
But where else in the Perthshire Highlands could you find over 200
shops selling everything from fine arts and jewellery to crafts and
clothes, furniture and linen to shoes and leather goods – and
all within a short walk!
Many of the old favourites are returning but new for this year are
Benetton clothing, Dubarry leather boots, Heartwoods for country house
furniture and Pinnochio’s wooden toys. Caledonia Play are supplying
play equipment ready for testing in the Woodland Area and if it all
gets too much for you pop into Refresh Body Therapy for an on the
spot massage.
The Bowmore Tasting Tent is once again open on all four days so don’t
forget to pop in for your little taste of Islay in the form of a free
dram.
Adult admission on Thursday and Friday is £7, Staurday, £11
and Sunday £9. Children under 16, accompanied by an adult are
£3 each day and under fives are free. Car parking is free.
