BLAIR CASTLE INTERNATIONAL HORSE TRIALS DELIGHTED AT CONTINUED SUPPORT

The organisers of Scotland’s leading equestrian event, The Blair Castle International Horse Trials and Country Fair are delighted to announce the continued support of a number of funding partners including the national events agency, EventScotland. This years event takes place from Thursday 21st to Sunday 24th August.

This is the fifth year of support for the Horse Trials which hosted a very successful European Young Rider Eventing Championship last year and continues to go from strength to strength attracting well over 45,000 visitors over the four days.

Paul Bush, Chief Operating Officer of EventScotland said: “We’re delighted to be supporting the Blair Castle International Horse Trials for a fifth time, an event which has grown in stature and reputation over the last few years.

“Scotland’s reputation as a host for European and International events continues to rise. The economic impact and international exposure that major events such as the Blair Castle International Horse Trials provides to Scotland only increases our appetite to continue delivering world-class events.”

Perth and Kinross Council and the Scottish Equestrian Association also support the Horse Trials which is the only three-star three-day event in Scotland and one of only three in the UK.

Councillor John Kellas, Convenor Enterprise and Infrastructure Committee at Perth and Kinross Council said, “We are pleased to be sponsoring Blair Castle International Horse Trials again in 2008. The event brings valuable economic benefits to the rural economy in Highland Perthshire and the Council is delighted to be working in partnership with the event organizers and EventScotland to develop this international event.

“We were delighted that the Event reached European status last year and it is important that we consolidate this position as our aim is to grow events to a national and European level.”

Horse Trials Director, Sarah Phillips said, “We are extremely grateful for the support we have received from EventScotland, Perth and Kinross Council, sportscotland and the SEA over the years which have allowed us to develop the Horse Trials into one of Scotland’s leading international events.”

Four days of world class equestrian competition is complimented by a massive tented village of over 200 shops and the Bruadar Country Fair which takes place over the weekend and includes spectacular arena displays and demonstrations. One of the highlights of the weekend will be on Sunday when the RAF Falcons Parachute Display Team will literally drop into the main arena.
