MEMBERS TO BENEFIT FROM OLYMPIC RIDERS EXPERTISE
One of the highlights of this year’s Blair Castle International Horse Trials and Country Fair which takes place at Blair Atholl from August 21st to 24th, will be course walks taken by some of the world’s leading riders.
BHS Scotland is the nominated charity for the event this year and only members of this organisation or of the Horse Trials can benefit from the experience with all proceeds going to the charity.
British team members, William Fox Pitt and Lucy Wiegersma, both previous winners of Blair will just be home from the Olympics in Hong Kong and have a wealth of experience to impart to would-be three day eventers. They will be joined by New Zealand rider Caroline Powell and Ruth Edge, another Brit who has done well at Blair in the past.
It will be a fascinating experience to walk the CCI*** course with any of these riders and learn how they view the fences, the lines they plan to ride, how they walk the distances and if they foresee any tricky moments.
It has now been confirmed that the RAF Falcons Parachute Display Team will be dropping into the main arena on Sunday to thrill the crowds along with the RAF Pipe Band. Borders and Lothian police will be demonstrating how to bomb proof your horse, and the BHS Scotland demos include safety and training.
Every year the range of equestrian classes continues to expand and this year is no exception with a packed programme for all four days including native ponies, Clydesdales, racehorses and hunters not to mention the one, two and three star event horses.
Schedules for all the different classes are available for download now from www.blairhorsetrials.co.uk and the box office is open for pre-booking tickets.
