CHARITY AUCTION RAISES OVER £5000
AT BLAIR CASTLE INTERNATIONAL HORSE TRIALS

A successful charity auction for the Equine Grass Sickness Fund was held at the Blair Castle International Horse Trials on Friday evening and raised £5860 to aid research into this important disease of horses which is particularly prevalent on the East coast of Scotland.

Hundreds of people crowded into the catering marquee at the horse trials to bid for the various lots and to raise money for the Edinburgh based charity.

Top lot was a motorized mini-dumper offered by Muck-truck Scotland which made £1050 to racehorse trainer, Dorothy Thomson, who is on the EGSF committee and said she would put it to good use in her yard at Milnathort. Dorothy also paid £750 for a stallion nomination to the Thoroughbred, Rambling Bear.

Chainsaw Creations donated a wooden bench with ornate animal carvings which made £700 to Brian Smith, Blair Atholl, while a box of organic beef from Atholl Glens sold for £500 to Barry Truelove, Lincolnshire.

Barry also bought a day hind stalking from Dalnacardoch Estate for £220, while another day stalking at Atholl Estates made £210 to Wendy Evans, one of the scorers for the three-day event.

Another lot to reach toe £200 mark was a day hunting with the Beaufort in England which sold to Lincolnshire visitor, Glyn Trundle.

Chairman for the EGSF, Philippa Gammell was delighted with the money raised which will be added to the funds donated by the general public during the four days of the trials.
