| CULINERY DELIGHTS AT
BOWMORE BLAIR CASTLE HORSE TRIALS
Visitors to the Bowmore Blair Castle International Horse Trials
and Country Fair, which take place at Blair Castle from Thursday
21st to Sunday 24th August, can look forward to a selection of culinary
delights.
A Festival of Food marquee includes local produce such as a range
of meats from Atholl Estates Farm Shop, and oatmeal and flour mixes
from Blair Atholl Watermill. Other delicacies include hand-made
luxury chocolates and fudge from the Sweet Nut Trader and olives
and oil from Elanthy of Gloucestershire.
Heading the cookery demonstrations will be Jeremy Wares, chef at
the award-winning 63 Tay Street Restaurant in Perth who will be
entertaining spectators on Sunday afternoon.
63, which Jeremy co-owns with his wife Shona has won a host of awards
including Les Routiers Scottish Restaurant of the Year in 2002.
It has also been awarded four Scottish Tourist Board/taste of Scotland
medallions for outstanding food service and ambience.
Before opening their own restaurant in 2001, Jeremy was chef at
Kinfauns Castle and before that both he and Shona worked for celebrity
chef, Nick Nairn.
Having whetted the taste-buds by perusing the food hall and cookery
demonstrations, visitors might then be tempted to move on to the
Bowmore Whisky Tasting Tent where they can sample Scotland’s
number one selling Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky *.
Established in 1779, Bowmore Distillery is one of the oldest distilleries
in Scotland and the oldest distillery on Islay. Whisky enthusiasts
can see for themselves why Bowmore is universally regarded as the
'best balanced' of all the Islay malts with wonderfully rich and
complex flavours. Peat smoke and marine notes balance with a sweet,
citrus, freshness to give Bowmore its distinctive taste.
