Once again Blair Castle International Horse Trials and Country Fair will be the climax to the season for working hunter ponies and ridden Clydesdales.

Competitors from throughout Scotland strive to qualify each year in order to compete at this prestigious event which takes place from Thursday 27th to Sunday 30th August 2009. Riding in the arena under the shadow of the great white-walled castle is undoubtedly the highlight of the year for many, and of course, when the class is finished there is the chance to browse over 200 shops or simply watch and learn from the top eventers in action. Blair Castle International Horse Trials is pleased to announce that its nominated charity for 2009 is World Horse Welfare. Funds will be raised in a number of ways at this year's event which takes place at Blair Atholl from Thursday 27th to Sunday 30th August

Alec Lochore has taken on the role of Event Director at Blair Castle International Horse Trials and Country Fair. Alec is very familiar with the event, having competed at the first ever Blair three-day event and been a Technical Delegate for the past two years. He will be assisted in the role by Hannah Wilkins, who has been promoted from her previous organiser’s position to Assistant Director.

“I am delighted to accept this new role, and am excited to have the opportunity to build on the already excellent reputation of the event. I am looking forward to working with Hannah and the rest of the team at Blair” said Alec, who will also continue to run other events through his company, Musketeer Event Management.

Sarah Phillips, who has been the Event Director since 2002, is moving to Warwickshire to take on a new position at the British Horse Society as Senior Executive for British Riding Clubs and Competitions.
