Bruadar, the taste of ‘The Great Outdoors’, sponsors the Country Fair (Saturday 23rd and Sunday 24th August 2008).
The Bruadar Country Fair plays a huge role in the event – non-horsey members of the family can rest assured that Blair Castle International Horse Trials and Country Fair is not solely about horses, and the event has plenty to offer besides equestrian action.
Arena attractions confirmed for 2008 include:
Ridgeside Falconry - Phil Gibbons and his team make a welcome return to Blair in 2008. Ridgeside have a static display near the arena, where you can meet a selection of birds of prey from around the world. During the arena displays you can watch the birds fly, and maybe even go into the arena and help out! New for this year, Phil has added lurchers to his repertoire, and will also be performing a lurcher demonstration each day! www.falconry-displays.co.uk
Mordor Gundogs - Charlie Thorburn, from Glenfarg, Perthshire will give you an insight into the huge skill required of a gundog. Using his talented team of Labradors, Springers and Cocker Spaniels Charlie will demonstrate methods of training gundogs and will let the dogs show you just how clever they really are. www.mordorgundogs.co.uk
Fife and Kinross Working Terrier Club - The club was formed back in 1984 by a group of terrier enthusiasts, and their terrier racing team is a popular sight at shows and events throughout the summer months – come and watch the terriers race and chase at Blair for the first time!
Vintage and Classic Tractor Cavalcade - The vintage and classic tractors are firm favourites with visitors to the Bruadar Country Fair. Located near the main entrance, the static display gives visitors the chance to have a closer look at these old workhorses, before watching their daily Cavalcade around the arena.
Atholl Highland Ponies - Atholl Estates’ homebred Highland Ponies highlight the versatility and fantastic good nature of this Scottish breed. The ponies work year-round on the Estate, trekking in summer and carrying culled deer off the hills in winter. Their arena display will show them in many different guises – trekking, showing, carrying deer saddles, carrying grouse panniers and in harness.
More attractions will be added in the run up to the event, keep an eye on this page for details. |
